Ever Clouds Domino @ DLD11

Here's a short talk on the Cloud House which seems to be getting attention anew. In the talk, I attempt to connect the idea of the domino frame as a template which people "fill up with their lives" as similar situation to todays "cloud computing lifestyle where we constantly upload our "life" onto templates such as facebook, flickr, twitter and tumblr. Finally the way that the Dom-ino frame was used in the south mediterranean, as an ephemeral structure to be completed at will, and to be constantly updated as a building, related to the current internet constant customization of cloud pages (google themes, gmail themes, facebook setting etc). And of course how it is all put together into a single memorable object.

Watch live streaming video from dldconference at livestream.com

and here's the entire Ever Clouds panel, as moderated by Hans Urlich Obrist, featuring among others the great Hubert Damisch (Philosopher), Elizabeth Diller (Diller Scofidio + Renfro)
Hans Magnus Enzenberger (Poet) and Mr Tomas Saraceno (Artist)

Adbusted

Recently, I can't help noticing

all the blank billboards on my morning walk

maybe they ran out of things to advertise?

maybe we just consumed too many ads and we dont see them anymore?

maybe the whole country is bust

and not even the creepy cheap advertisement companies want to sell us anything

because they know we are junk customers
naturally, the only ad that is never missing is for the ubiquitous online crap-sino

the next day I find myself in front of this sign,
and what do you know,
it looks just like a fucking tombstone:
Here Lies the Greek Economy.

Angelo Plessas' Monument to Internet HookUps

This is Angelo Plessas' Monument to Internet HookUps
the monument is the physical component of a work
that joins performance, sculpture and the internet,
mixing public event and private history.
the work was conceived as part of Cay Sophie Rabinowitz' "Splendid Isolation: Athens" exhibition for the 2nd Athens Biennial HEAVEN. The opening of HEAVEN was scheduled at the same day as the Athens Pride Festival, and Plessas' work chose to join the two events

first acting as a float on the Pride parade in downtown Athens
(Joe, Pablo)

where lots of old friends came together
(Angelo, Cay, Mark, Tobias, Rebecca)

mixing real and fictional characters
(Vilma, Roland)

at the end of the parade everybody boarded the float
(Stuart, Christian, Roy, Willem, Leo, Sotiris, Andrea, Adrian, Jane,Pablo, Oliver, Carla, Eleanna)

for a crazy truck ride down Syggrou Ave.
and the installation at a secluded location on the grounds of the biennial,
a pyramid amongst dead palm trees
a dry field by the sea
yesterday we visited the monumentto add some personal history
