Oscar Sunday

It was Oscar Sunday and we decided to go museum hopping in downtown LA

we stumbled upon California Plaza next to MOCA

post modern belated delirium tremens

with reflected banality
in Chinatown we passed by Grandview gardens

and nylon covered rocks

and as the night drew, we saw weird plant-covered boutiques

and scared pumpkin cats that got no oscars

Found Zenetos

For the longest time I thought I had list this out-of-print book on the great Takis Zenetos

suddenly it appeared behind some other random books at my parents' place
it features some nice shots of the Electronic Urbanism maquete
the legendary project which basically predicted everything from the internet to almost the iphone (1952- eat your heart out Archigram)
the very cute Medrano restaurant project
which I think was never built

and this great drawing of the villa in Glyfada, with the surrounding rock garden

which was of course built but unfortunately demolished a couple years ago

Mykonos

Been lovin' the Fleet Foxes for some time now, I was totally obsessed with "White Winter Hymnal", and just saw this stop motion clip for "Mykonos" which is such a great track too

Mykonos from Grandchildren on Vimeo.
directed by Sean Pecknold
off their great Sun Giant EP of course

Monolithic Skybirds and Home Domes

Say hello to Skybird Dome
by the DragonSpeed design group

sister project of this lovely Pensacola Florida Monolithic Dome,
which exists in two copies, with variation n the planting
Pueblo Home Dome?
Office dome

one of the more sinister versions you can find on the Monolithic BBSwhere they also have suggestions for all things Monolithic, such as bridges

all started when Angelo stumbled upon one of the Flintstone houseswhich might be getting an extension
and this might be its interior

if that was not the exterior to this
or perhaps thisis inside this?

Soft Rock for Bouwkunde

Here's our submission for the TU Delft completion, which didn't win any,
(though we made the long list, exhibition, book etc) a building shaped like a soft green rock

with a little Dutch village on the roof

floating slightly above ground
open plan floors with self organizing elements
hovering above a pink and red exotic social space for work-shopping and talking and meeting and passing through

Quick Ruin

its been ages since I blogged something
never enough time
I had these ruins lying around, from the Shelter book
perhaps unintentional ruin
it was next to some Caspar David Friedrich paintings,
which always makes sense
