Classic Classisism

Finally I got to see an original Capitello at the Met
(armchair by Studio 65, verging on obsession)
then a bit later on we saw two at the Cooper-Hewitt,
and Angelo was tired from all the museum going.
(alas they were plastic vacuum-form reproductions)
and then everywhere I looked I could see Capitellos,
and loft Parthenonsand Classisism
just about everywhereeven in a shop window in Chelsea

Last Night in New York

We saw a building about to fall down
(Grand + W. Broadway)a burning chair (Banks Violette, TEAM Gallery)
Endless crowds of people at the Chelsea openings
(drowning in the Sea of Too Much)great AA Bronson at John Connelly Presentsan upside-down star also at JCP,
but I dont remember by whom
Then walking up 1oth Ave, an ominous looking building
that will never fall down
great NY from Christian Hayes' party
then later on, after boring Beatrice Inn, the Cock
where the toilet is wallpapered by BUTT and more

Guggenheim details

Somehow the Guggenheim with scaffolding looks like an entirely different thing
then I noticed these windows I had somehow ignored on previous visits
they look kind of festive and fishy, or fishy and festive
this looked more triangular when I took it, not so sure now
there's an old leather bar in downtown LA with the exact same door
(the keyhole? the k-hole? no idea but I have the picture somewhere)
shadows from Richard Prince truck tire urn
makes you smile always

New Museum Yesterday

Yesterday we went to the New Museum, which everybody knows has moved to the Bowery in a building by SANAA, and its probably the best building New York has seen in a very long time. And judging by the amazingly ugly condos popping up (Richard Gluckman anybody?), it will be a while before another building like this comes along.

The chain link fence is great, makes everything look cheap and special at the same time,
and this goes on through the entire building.
starting from the top at the education center
down the semi scary japanese size stairs
everything is labeled according to sponsors, like they do in Japanese temples
(here the top floor gallery, by our very own Dakis + Lietta hurray!)
great piece but I don't remember who, and the guards were so camera-unfriendly
again great, again no memory
japanese size
Isa Genzken

great Act-Up Neon sign by Grand Fury I think,
and I never shut up anyway

Sandbox

Here's some pics from my piece at the "In Present Tense" exhibition, National Museum of Contemporary Art in AthensThanks to the nice people at PV Engineering, we were able to produce 8 of the Second Life houses. Some of the house were originally designed in SL, like the Think Tank,
(or Idea House, or Thought Bubble House.. feel free to suggest a name)
the Leopard Pyramid
the Tube House
and Terraform Housewhile others like the Cloud House,Polygon,
and Philosophy, were recreated in SL
Also included are three videos: one on Terraform House, one on some Sandbox adventure, and one on my last neighbours in Aglaia. The videos are mostly un-edited recordings, just life in Second life.

Roadtrip

This weekend we drove up to the mountains close to Trikalato visit friendsSylvia and Angelo crossed some roadsand have some fun
we brought gifts
we saw a tree with a cave, in the water
great Thanassis Totsikas' painting, Beltsios collection
a flirty Poseidon
an angry Hermes
an unlucky column
we drove through chain-link covered rocks
past car buildings
buildings covered in spaceframes
and blind roadside curiosities
